Just 15 kilometres from the sea, in the immediate Imperia inland, there is a town where time seems to stand still. It is Valloria, a peculiar hamlet of Prelà. An enchanted place that risked to disappear a quarter of century ago. It was 1994 when a group of residents decided to do something to revive the town by painting the doors of the cellars overlooking the alleyways. The town has today over 160 frescoed doors with landscapes, flowers and other subjects, which are admired every year by thousands of tourists coming especially from the neighbouring France. Valloria was reborn also thanks to the idea of including it in the “ASSIPAD” circuit, which gathers all the “painted towns”.
